2025 TruMerit NLN Emerging Scholars Award

Description

The TruMerit™ (formerly CGFNS International) – NLN Distinguished Emerging Nursing Scholar Award has been developed to recognize and encourage emerging scholars who have pursued research studies in the advancement of nursing education and learning. The establishment of this monetary award is to enable emerging scholars to launch a career in nursing education research as the basis to inform teaching and learning processes across educational systems with promising global impact.  

Two award recipients will receive a $10,000 award, inclusive of travel expenses and hotel accommodations to the NLN Nursing Education Summit, to accept the award.

Application Requirements

Carefully review this checklist and rubric below. Incomplete applications will be disqualified. 

  1. Completed doctoral research dissertation topics can come from any discipline with a dedicated focus on nursing education. 

  2. The dissertation must have been completed within two years of the application deadline (June 2025). 

  3. Application submissions must include:

    • Summary of Dissertation: include a summary of the applicant’s dissertation which includes a summary, statement of need, research hypothesis, literature review, methodology, results, conclusions, and implications for further research (max 10 pages).

    • Statement of Future Research: the candidate should provide a statement that outlines the future trajectory of the research and how they plan to use the remainder of the funds to support new or continuing research (max 250 words).

    • Letter of Recommendation: include a letter of recommendation from the dissertation advisor addressed to the NLN Foundation (max 500 words).

Please note that there is no specific application template, however, each application should attempt to follow the order of the checklist and use headings indicative of these requirements
